Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 2 tablespoons Butter softened
  • 1-2 Garlic Cloves grated or finely minced
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Parsley finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 loaf French Bread or Similar Crusty Bread about 12 inches long

Instructions

  • You will also need: Baking sheet, pastry brush or large spoon.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Combine the softened butter, olive oil, garlic, parsley, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl. Stir well with a fork until combined.
  • Slice the loaf in half lengthwise.
  • Spread the garlic butter evenly over the cut sides of the bread, going all the way to the edges. Use a pastry brush or the back of a large spoon.
  • Place the bread cut-side up on a large baking sheet. Bake for 10–15 minutes, until the edges are golden and the bread is toasted to your liking. Keep an eye on it toward the end since it can brown quickly.
  • Let the bread cool for a minute or two, then slice and serve.

Notes

For softer garlic bread, bake closer to 10 minutes. For a toastier result, leave it in a little longer.
A microplane works well for grating the garlic into a fine paste. If you don't have one, mince the garlic very finely.
