Beef Tips & Mushroom Gravy

Ingredients

Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium- high heat. Add the steak pieces and arrange them in a single layer. Cook them for 3 minutes.

1

Turn and cook another 3 minutes to brown on other side. Take the skillet off the heat. Remove the steak and place on a plate, cover to keep warm.

2

Do not wash the skillet. Place it back over medium-high heat and add the butter. When it melts, add the mushrooms.

3

Cook the mushrooms for 5 minutes, stir occasionally. They will release a good amount of liquid; let most of it cook out before adding the flour.

4

Lower the heat to medium, sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms, stir well to combine. Cook the flour for 1½-2 minute to get the raw taste out, stir often.

5

Slowly add the beef broth to the mushroom mixture while stirring gently and scrapping the bits off the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon.

6

→ Add the Worcestershire sauce. → Bring the mushroom sauce to a simmer. → Add the pieces of beef back to the skillet. → Lower the heat to medium-low and cook, uncovered, for 15-20 minutes or until it thickens. → Stir occasionally and keep at a simmer.

Taste the gravy and add salt if needed. Serve the steak tips and gravy on a bed of mashed potatoes and garnish chopped parsley, if desired
